I am of course behind on this blog, that is much less a blog now and mostly my show schedule. But that is life. If I ever do think I have something interesting to say, at least I still have a place here to say it. What should be the most interesting thing about me is my work. I'll be at the Capitola Art and Wine Festival this weekend with my work, so I hope you will come on over!
Capitola is such a great California beach town, and the show gets a great crowd. It is a true wine tasting show as well, not just a show where you can buy wine and walk around in public drinking it, even though that is a lot of fun. There are many wineries here and they offer a great selection of their wines for tasting. AND you get to walk around drinking. AND looking at lots of great art and fine craft.
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday Sept. 14 & 15, 2013. Parking is always a problem. There is a shuttle from the Capitola Mall, and that would be the easiest.

Montclair Village Sidewalk Art Show
June 28-30
This weekend I'll be in the Oakland Hills in Montclair Village. This is a nice small show on the sidewalks of this great little enclave neighborhood in the Oakland Hills.
On Sunday morning there is a fabulous Farmers Market right behind me on La Salle. I look forward to the oyster bar, and other amazing food offerings there.
Oh yes, my booth is at the corner of Mountain Blvd. and La Salle. There is a bank right in front of me. The artists are on the sidewalks at this show, so traffic is as it always is. Parking is a problem, but up the hill from my booth on La Salle is a parking garage.
I am thinking of putting up a drive through window here behind me. You could drive by...jewelry buy.

Anthropology Inspiration
If I were a younger woman, my dream job would be to work for Anthropology making store displays. The creativity there just amazes me!! The whole store concept is so fabulous, but of course I am not telling you anything you don't already know.
Some of their jewelry is also fabulous, but a lot of it looks really cheap to my eye. But of course my eye is pretty picky these days. Perhaps the plastic look is hot right now, but my eye just doesn't appreciate it.
I have done several new pieces that have been inspired by Anthropology's generous and ingenius
combinations of colors, so I am posting them here for you to decide! They are very color specific, just like I find Antro to be.
All three of these are one of kind. The two that are similar are stick (biwa?) pearls that I have been saving for years. The color combos are just delicious.
The longer of the four, pictured to the left, features an apricot pearl, called a "reborn" pearl, that I married with african turqoise, and two faceted quartz crystals.

Saratoga Rotary Art Show this Weekend
Well this isn't a good sign. It is the beginning of the show year, and already I am behind on this blog. Oh well. I really don't think I have that many interesting things to say!
But I find it interesting that I waited until the very last minute to make a piece of glass that someone was interested in at Saratoga last year. I made got to make 3 components, and two of them were really excellent. Then I ran out of propane. So is this a good sign, or a bad sign? I will at least get to make two necklaces for Saratoga that I havn't had yet this year, so I guess it is what it is.

Belmont Art Show this Weekend
This weekend, March 23 & 24, is the Belmont Art Show, at the Carlemont Shopping Center. I have a new location at the show this year, between Starbucks and Lundardis.
I found these Tibetan Silver pendants at the Tucson Gem Show in February. Usually I am not attracted to anything that looks like "something", (i.e., a RABBIT) but I found these charming. I liked them so much, I made three necklaces with them this winter, and they were all rabbits! I guess I was thinking about Spring, and didn't really know it.
The necklace pictured at the left here is wooden nuggets, with the hollow rabbit pendant. Both are very light, so if you can't take a heavy piece, but want this chunky look, this may be the piece for you. I will be doing this wood with other centerpieces as well, but I think I need to work through this rabbit stage I seem to be in.
I was going to put a map to the location of the show here, but I am having so many technical difficulties today that I can't even go there. Hopefully all you peninsula people know Ralston, and the show is where it intersects at Alameda de las Pulgas!!
